I am a self-taught contemporary artist based in Toronto. Working primarily in acrylic and mixed media, I create layered, expressive paintings through an intuitive process.
Rather than beginning with a fixed plan, each painting develops as I work. Layers are built up, marks are added and removed, and the composition evolves in response to what is happening on the surface. Colour, texture and movement are central to my work, as is the balance between quieter areas and stronger, more energetic gestures.
Memory, emotion and a sense of place often influence my work, but I prefer to leave the paintings open to interpretation. My hope is that viewers connect with them in their own way.
Over many years of studio work, I developed my practice independently while also studying with and being mentored by established local artists. Experimentation and discovery continue to guide my work, allowing each painting to evolve in its own way.
